Welcome to Citta Psychology

Hi, I am Martha Farat

I am a traveler, student, writer, Psychologist with a inquisitive nature

I offer a holistic approach that is reflected in my personal life.

My personal and professional quest are deeply interwoven and related to my own journey of self-inquiry and personal development. With many questions left unanswered by western psychology, strong winds of my unceasing inquisitiveness sailed east for me to explore other traditions. In 2014, I started practicing yoga and meditation, and in 2017 I embarked on a journey to Nepal and India.

I have spent many years in Dharamsala, India studying Buddhist Science of Mind.
What I found is a very profound inner science that has been exploring the mind and its potentials for millennia.

Citta is a Sanskrit word which means ‘mind-heart'

In Buddhist Psychology, mind & heart are often described by one word – Citta.

This ‘mind-heart’ has many dimensions, it’s a complex interaction of thoughts, feelings, emotions.

MIND & HEART TRANSFORMATION

Our Method is aimed at transforming mind & heart to achieve optimal well-being.

Mind & Heart transformation is a journey, an inward journey into the nature of our mind and emotions.

Since genuine happiness is created by our mind, the better insight we have into the nature of our mind and emotions, the better equipped we are in creating the causes of genuine happiness.

“The unexamined life is not worth living.”

Back in India – May 2023

And for another year I am back in Dharamsala, India. In the midst of chaos, in the land of paradoxes, this is the place where I have found peace of mind. Away from the pleasures and comforts of western life, this is where I have found endless nourishment for mind & heart.

What is Mind?

“Scientists haven’t investigated consciousness very deeply. They tend to think of the mind in relation to the brain, and yet the mind is something other than that. The mind is not a product of the brain. It is its own entity." - His Holiness Dalai Lama “The scientific belief that the mind is the same as the brain is a belief not a fact. Indeed, we scientists have not made real progress in investigating this over the last 100 years.” – Richard Davidson, American Neuroscientist.

Kindness as an antidote to depression

Whenever sadness takes control of our minds, or loneliness strikes, we could aim to do a good action. This is a simple, yet powerful advice. There are so many small acts of kindness that can be done, either using our body, speech or mind, and it does not need to be anything complicated.  This creates an uplifting result on ourselves. This is the outcome of being wise selfish, we are the primary recipient of our own kindness.

“IF THERE IS ANY RELIGION THAT COULD RESPOND TO THE NEEDS OF MODERN SCIENCE IT WOULD BE BUDDHISM.”

Albert Einstein
