What is psychotherapy?

or just 'therapy'

Therapy is a journey. It’s a journey into examining the world but mainly to examine the examiner. It’s a process of self-discovery. The better insight we have into the nature of our mind and emotions, the better equipped we are in creating the causes of genuine happiness.

Psychotherapy is an inner journey that allows us to delve deeper into our thoughts, feelings and emotions.

This inner journey is a process of mind & heart transformation. Since mind has the potency to create happiness and the causes of happiness, by transforming our mind we can experience more peace of mind, more satisfaction, and happiness.

Psychotherapy is a process aimed at cultivating optimal well-being and alleviating emotional distress.

Inner Journey

Mind & Heart Transformation

Hiking to the mountain peak of genuine happiness

Before we go hiking thorough preparation is essential for us to reach our destination. Firstly, we decide on a goal and then we obtain an updated map and correct gear for the journey. Inside our backpacks, only essentials are necessary without any extra weight that might slow us down. In addition, we look for the right companion, that could be a guide or a friend, who supports us along the journey.

Likewise, mind & heart transformation is a journey aimed at reaching the mountain peak of well-being. Therefore, preparation for our life journey is crucial, otherwise we might end up stranded in some undesirable terrain of ill-being.

Mind transformation is a process of updating our map and it helps us to be better prepared for our life journey, filling up our backpacks with the correct gear of healthy qualities and getting rid of the extra weight of unhealthy qualities that hinder our journey. The therapist is like our buddy who guides us throughout our journey, providing valuable support.

Mind & heart transformation is a journey, an inward journey into the nature of our mind and emotions. Since genuine happiness is created by our mind, it is a journey of mind transformation aimed at creating the causes of our well-being.
“OUR VIEW OF REALITY IS LIKE A MAP WITH WHICH TO NEGOTIATE THE TERRAIN OF LIFE. IF THE MAP IS TRUE AND ACCURATE, WE WILL GENERALLY KNOW WHERE WE ARE, AND IF WE HAVE DECIDED WHERE WE WANT TO GO, WE WILL GENERALLY KNOW HOW TO GE THERE. IF THE MAP IS FALSE AND INACCURATE, WE GENERALLY WILL BE LOST."

2. How successful have you been in finding genuine happiness?

3. Do you have the correct gear inside your backpack that supports you on your journey?

4. What extra weight do you carry inside your backpack that slows you down?

5. What kind of help or support do you have in your life journey?

Which statements would apply to you?

I easily get lost when navigating through challenges in life.

I’m struggling to experience genuine happiness in my life.

I feel I do not have the right gear that supports me in my life journey.

I feel like I carry too much extra load that weighs me down.

I value exploration and I am prepared to invest some energy, time, and resources into my journey of self-discovery and transformation.

The Steps of the Journey

Each step of the journey is as equally important as reaching the destination of well-being.

How long? How often?

This journey can last from few sessions to several months and even years,
as it depends on the depth of transformation the traveler wishes to explore.

A single session is not enough to transform the mind successfully.
There are many steps in this journey, and it takes time and consistency to progress
effectively towards the final destination of well-being.
A suggestion is to initially explore 6 sessions.

Sessions are normally weekly or fortnightly, depending on many factors, such as goals and availability.
As the journey progresses it is possible to determine which frequency is more beneficial.
Sessions can be transitioned to monthly sessions and booster sessions over time.

Each therapeutic journey is unique, and it can be tailored to best suit your needs.
It is something discussed at the start and as the journey continues.

“CONTEMPLATIVE SCIENCE TELLS US WE CAN TAKE MORE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CARE OF OUR OWN MINDS. THE BENEFITS FROM SHAPING OUR MINDS MORE INTENTIONALLY HAVE BEEN PROVEN BY MODERN NEUROSCIENCE."

Richard Davidson
Neuroscientist

What to expect

Each session is 60 minutes, and the first two sessions typically involve an assessment and setting therapeutic goals for the journey.

Sessions:

Sessions are a safe space for a journey of self-discovery aimed at achieving well-being.
Generally, therapy involves a lot of talking, but not always.
By drawing upon a variety of evidence-based tools and practices from Buddhist Science of Mind and Contemplative Neuroscience, sessions include elements such as informative discussion and material, reflection, and meditation practices.

*All discussions are confidential.
